Have you ever really thought about how important hugs are? When is the last time you had a real strong powerful hug from someone? A hug is one of the most important signs of affection or love. It is something you can do in public or in private without any stigma. Hugs show you really care. It has been said that you need four hugs a day to survive, eight to maintain your sanity and twelve to grow and develop.

Hugs are a form of romantic exchange, support, comfort, emotional warmth or just plain old happiness. Hugs don’t just feel good they are needed for the spirit. Hugs transfer energy from one person to another and requires little investment with big gains.

Hugs have also been proven to have health benefits like increasing levels of oxytocin, and reduce blood pressure. It also helps the bodies immune system, it can relieve pain and help with depression.

There are also many types of hugs, you have bear hugs, a-frame hugs (this one is a little formal e.g. just neck sticking out), cheek hugs, group hugs and the best part is when you give one you get one in return.

Who do YOU need to hug today?

Until next time.
